Sharp Attack!

Sharp Attack this week was maybe not as great as the last one, but it was still quite the humourous one. There were a few different things that they talked about:

They (the radio station/morning show) were doing a "Handsome-Off" for the Blackhawks locker room. Sharpie vs Stalberg is the major question. Stalberg chirped on Sharpie about his costume (he said he had the worst costume, doing whatever his wife told him to).  Stalberg also commented on stealing the hearts of the Chicago ladies – saying that Sharie had been locked up (because he got married) and now the ladies had to go in search… of someone younger. When asked about the Handsome-Off, Sharpie complained against being up against “Mr. Pretty Boy – everyone on his face and body is manicured”. He also commented he was going to log on and vote 1000 times for himself. At the time of the interview, Sharpie was in the lead of the Handsome-Off with 72% of the vote.

Sharpie said he isn’t too worried about the occasional bad results the team has bee getting – no reason to panic, as he said. The interviewers also brought up Kaner’s trend of getting hit in the face in a game and then coming back to score a goal. Sharpie said that he tells him now before the game that he could just punch him in the face (what a jokester!)

As for Halloween, Shooter didn’t get to go out with Sharpie – Shooter and Abby went to a friends to hand out candy but Sharpie wasn’t too keen to talk about the Halloween party for the team. He had to dress up as a Flower – wifey made him,as she was a bee. So yeah, Stalberg I’m sure ripped him apart at the party, haha. He said that it was probably that he was preoccupied and she muttered something about what they should go out as for Halloween and he was like, yeah yeah whatever… Then as the green tights when on, he realized what had happened. He said that the first reaction he got was from Kaner – he apparently just looked at Sharpie and shook his head and turned away (“a look of more like ‘man, I hope in fix or six years from now, I don’t get myself into a situation like that”).

You'd better believe Sharpie sent the station a picture of his costume... He was lookin' gooooood:

In other hockey news, Jason Spezza got the first star of the night for his 4 point game against the Islanders (1G,3A). Normally, I do not like to appreciate the successes of any Sen, but anytime I hear Jason Spezza, I just think of his laugh and I can't hate him as much..

Jaroslav Halak and the Blues blanked the Sharks last night. Halak now has a 7-1-1 record with a save percentage of 0.940 and 1.53 GAA (with an actual total of 14 goals against). Oh yeah, he's also had 3 shut outs. Meanwhile, Carey Price has a 6-4-1 record with a save percentage of 0.909 and 2.44 GAA (with an actual total of 27 goals against) and 1 shut out. Sooooo how do you think the Montreal fans are feeling now about trading away Halak? I know, it's early in the season and the standings don't necessarily mean anything at this point - lots of hockey left. But ahh... Habs fans aren't exactly known as being calm and patient...

In the same game, Jumbo Joe got a game misconduct and a 5 minute major (for an illegal check to the head of Dave Perron), getting ejected from the game. Joe and the Sharks clearly didn't agree of the call so we will see what happens - there is a conference call hearing set for 2 pm today to determine disciplinary action, but from the sounds of it, a suspension may be likely (though Joe has a pretty good record so that may help).

And this isn't so much news as expected, but everyone is still talking about Crosby's fight. Cory Clouston also jumped on the bandwagon but used it to talk about his own team. I think you know how I feel about that. Brent Sutter did as well, but for some reason, I'm fine with that. Sorry Sens, I will always feel negatively towards everything you do.

The Kings blanked the Bolts last night in a matchup of the Eastern and Western conference leaders. The Kings now are at the top of the league in standings.

Oh I also totally have to mention the Leafs vs Caps game from Wednesday night. I think you can imagine my excitement when the Leafs were up 1-0 after the first. Oh right, then the second came and with it, 3 Caps goals. Well, the boys in blue rallied in the third and got 3 goals, taking the lead for a bit before Semin tied it up. But I have to give the guys credit - they held off the Caps all through overtime - including 2 minutes of 4 on 3 - to force a shootout. They lost in the shootout but I was still impressed with the 1 point they got. But hey... with that 3-1 lead, the Caps had the two points (and 0 for the Leafs) in the bag. But... we all know how the Caps like to blow 3-1 leads...

(Sorry...I had to.)
