Mixing It Up for the All-Star Game

Well, the NHL is trying to spice it up a bit with the all-star game this season (in North Carolina) by moving away from the traditional Eastern vs Western style and instead going back to the playground style where two team captains are going to choose their teams. Players that are eligible to be chosen by the two designated captains will still have to be voted in by the fans (as is the usual method of player choice) however once the pool of players is assembled, what team they end up on will be up to who picks them.

They haven't revealed who the captains are going to be but they did state that it will be one captain from the Eastern Conference an one captain from the Western Conference.

This is an interesting way to shake things up a bit but you have to wonder where the idea came from.

Anyone think that there may be a possibility they want to do this because with Eastern vs Western two of the biggest superstars in the league (hey, maybe even three if you consider Stamkos up there, and many do already) end up on the same team....? Nahhh, what am I saying, they don't build up the rivalry between Crosby and Ovechkin at all, come on now. (How great would it be if they ended up on the same team anyways? They will probably get chosen 1-2, unless one of them is the Eastern captain, but anything could happen, especially since goalies also may get chosen first)

Hey, whatever their reasoning, it's a fun idea and will shake things up a bit so why not

The Canes hosted the Oilers last night and just slaughtered them, 7 to 1. Eric Staal - claim to fame = being Jordan's older brother - had a four point night. It's clearly because of his love of Miley, Katy Perry, Lady Gaga and... mimes.

Toronto... yeah, my post yesterday backfired and I just jinxed you guys. I take full credit for that one.

Montreal blanked the Canucks, with a big night for Carey Price, who stopped 35 shots and ended the Canucks' 6-game win streak. Well, he told you to chill out.

Caps beat the Rangers 5-3, with Brooksy getting 2 goals and an assist (I shant mention Ovechkin's 2 assists, you know my feelings about him) and his boyfriend/bromantic bandmate/heterosexual life partner Mike Green got into a little fightskie so big night for the Baby Blue Sound Crew. Maybe Brooksy will make Mike breakfast tomorrow morning (i.e. cereal)
