Weekend Recap

Well, previous thoughts that Crosby was only going to be out a week are no longer looking so good. Chances are, he's going to be out longer. My feelings are fairly clear

Oh PS, no one got suspended or fined for the head shots to Crosby. Oh and the Wild blanked the "Crosby-less Pens" last night. Frig.

Anywho, moving on. The Bruins were up 2-0 in the third last night and the Habs just gaver and won it 3-2 in OT with Max Pacioretty scoring the OT goal. Yay for him but ahh perhaps he was feeling a bit cocky and decided it was a good idea to taunt and shove the gigantabeast that is the Bruins' El Capitano. Yeah, he is a solid 6'2 and like 215 lbs which makes him a gigtabeast himself to most of the other guys on the team but Chara is 6'9 and a solid 255. Ballsy and not too swift, that Pacioretty is. I would've loved to see Gill and Chara go at it though.

The Leafs scored nine straight goals in their Friday game, upping the 8-1 score (from below) to 9-1. Ah-maaaaaz-ingggggggg. Laddy and the boys fought a bit harder in the third and managed to make it 9-3 but that would still be the definition of a... Well, I don't know what you call it when the Leafs brutally beat someone because it rarely happens so we will say the definition of a "holy effing shock"

Sid's bestie Jack Johnson got a seven year extension with the Kings so he'll be kickin' around in L.A. for awhile. Aww yeahhhh (well no actually, I would prefer he be traded to an Eastern Conference team so he was closer but whatevs. Here's to seven more years of four games a year against the Green Men Vancouver.

I don't like to bring up the Flyers - espesh with their win and the Pens loss from yesterday, they took the lead of the Atlantic division - but how can I not comment on the pure class that is their fan base. Captain of the rival team gets injured with a concussion - a serious issue, considering the Marc Savard issue and the new-ish head shot rule and stuff. So what is the natural thing to do? Ohhhhh, mark-down the prices of your merchandise to celebrate the player getting hurt!!! And Mike Richards comments on Subban having no respect

<-- A legit shirt that you can buy that is now on sale to celebrate Crosby's concussion. I won't post the link to it because they are just disgusting - and I would feel that way no matter who the player was (yes, including Ovechkin.)

(Yeah, yeah, yeah, it's not the Flyers themselves that are releasing the shirts. Too effing bad, the fans are a reflection of the team because without fans, you have no team.)

Moving on. The Hockey News released the Top 100 People of Power and Influence. Here are the players that made it (from this article)

4. Sidney Crosby — Easily the game’s best player now.
6. Alex Ovechkin — The game’s most dynamic personality.
19. Jonathan Toews — A fabulous year in 2010 and a true leader.
27. Matt Cooke — Hit on Marc Savard triggered the head-shot rule.
37. Steven Stamkos — Fitness freak now No. 5 among players.
49. Ilya Kovalchuk — Offseason saga led to changes in salary breakdown and contract length rules.
50. Tomas Vokoun — Will be popular at NHL trade deadline.
52. Zach Parise — Top RFA on summer market will command interest.
58. John Tavares — Future star a year behind Stamkos.
63. Nicklas Lidstrom — Most respected player still dominant.
72. Dion Phaneuf — New Toronto leader not living up to billing.
77. Jarome Iginla — Plenty of interest in star bound to be traded.
78. Ryan Miller — Top goalie in the league and well-spoken on competition committee.
79. Jaroslav Halak — Took league by storm last year, then was traded.
85. Patrick Kane — U.S.-born star a fresh young face of the game in the United States.
91. Drew Doughty — A defensive dynamo for years to come.
100. Paul Bissonnette — Social media star on Twitter.

Awww yeah, that's right, BizNasty made the cut!!

An even better article to check out is the people who just didn't make the cut. (Yes, its a joke lol. But maybe Ovechkin's mom should've been on the list - since he keeps her around to cook and clean.)

Don't worry though ladies, he will get rid of her when he gets married - maybe to one of you! - ...and then you'll get to cook and clean for him.
Oh lord, I just vomited a bit in my mouth.)

Let's see.... Super bitter people thought Crosby's head was a pinata and decided to bat it around as much as possible right when he was on track for the best point season of his career (though I still totally believe he will get that, despite having to miss games)...Shocked the Leafs won two in a row... Starting to plan the parade... Happy Tampa Bay beat Ottawa to make the Leafs close to coming out of last place in the division... Wondering how much longer New Jersey will remain in the 20's in terms of points... Hoping Vancouver holds on to first in the league and wins the President's Trophy (though I will willingly erase that if Pittsburgh wants to win it)... Yep, pretty much sums it up!!
